Mathematics Contest
Information

The Department of Mathematics at the University of Houston will host a High School Mathematics Contest on January 28, 2017 on the University of Houston Central Campus. The location and directions can be found at http://mathcontest.uh.edu/DirectionstoSECBldg.pdf.

The contest will consist of 8 Individual Exams, The Smackdown Event and a Team Project. Trophies and scholarships will be awarded to the top students from each individual exam as well as the top teams for the project exam. In addition, team trophies will be awarded to schools based upon overall student performance on the individual and team competitions. Individual exams will be given in the following areas:

Algebra I

Geometry

Algebra II

Pre-Calculus

Statistics

Calculus

Physics

Calculator

These exams will be given on the University of Houston Central Campus on the day of the contest, with a time limit of one hour.  Students are eligible to take an individual exam in Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II or Pre-Calculus provided they are currently enrolled in the associated course. Every student is welcome to take the Statistics, Calculus, Physics and Calculator exams.

The Team Project will be posted on the contest website by January 14th. Teams (consisting of no more than 4 students) can work on the Project until the day of the contest. The Project is due at 8:30am (during onsite registration) on the day of the contest. Each school can enter up to four teams.
