School The Department of Mathematics at the University of Houston will host a High School Mathematics Contest on February 14, 2009 on the University of Houston Central Campus. The exact building location will be posted on the main website by February 1st. The contest will consist of 9 Individual Exams and a Team Project. Trophies and scholarships will be awarded to the top students from each individual exam as well as the top teams for the project exam. In addition, team trophies will be awarded to schools based upon overall student performance on the individual and team competitions. Individual exams will be given in the following areas:
These exams will be given on the University of Houston Central Campus on the day of the contest, with a time limit of 50 minutes. High School Students are eligible to take an individual exam in Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II or PreCalculus provided they are currently enrolled in the associated course. Middle School students are eligible to take any of the exams, and every student is welcome to take the Statistics, Calculus, Physics, TI-83/84 Usage or TI-89/92 Usage exams. Teams (consisting of no more than 4 students) can work on the Project until the day of the contest. The Project will be due at 8:30am (during onsite registration) on the day of the contest.
